Benjamin A. Gellis is a member of the Tort Liability & Medical Malpractice section. Prior to joining the County Attorney's Office, Benjamin served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office where he received extensive litigation experience. As an Assistant State Attorney, Benjamin was a member of the Multi-Agency Gang Strike Force where he investigated and tried complex cases including murder, attempted murder, armed burglary, kidnapping and narcotics trafficking.

While at the State Attorney's Office, Benjamin was also cross-designated as a Special Assistant United States Attorney with the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida. As a Special Assistant United States Attorney, Benjamin prosecuted violations of federal firearms statutes from investigation through trial and served as a liaison between the two prosecutors' offices.
