Cathy Jackson is Director of the Audit and Management Services Department and the Interim Commission Auditor. She began her career with Miami-Dade County in March 1990 as Deputy Director of the Audit and Management Services Department, and in July 1997, was appointed Department Director. Prior to joining the County, Ms. Jackson practiced public accounting for several years with a major accounting firm, culminating her service as Senior Audit Manager. On October 3rd, 2017, Ms. Jackson’s responsibilities were enhanced to temporarily assume the duties of the Commission Auditor, pending recruitment of a permanent appointee.
Ms. Jackson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Miami and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida. In addition, Ms. Jackson holds memberships in several professional organizations, including the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA), Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA).
During her career, Ms. Jackson has developed and presented in-house training seminars as well as addressed many professional organizations on various accounting and auditing topics. She has also been a guest lecturer at the University of Miami, St. Thomas University and Florida International University, all located in Miami, Florida.
