Miami-Dade County bans deceptive pet leasing

The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners on June 4 passed a measure aimed at protecting pet owners. The legislation, sponsored by Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava, would prohibit the predatory lending practice of pet leasing.

The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners on May 7 unanimously passed legislation to help streamline the permits for installation of solar energy systems for residences and businesses, positioning Miami-Dade as a solar leader in the Sunshine State.

The Status of Women in Miami-Dade County Report 2019

There's still work to be done in the battle to achieve wage equity for women, according to the study prepared in collaboration with the Florida International University Metropolitan Center as subject matter experts is designed to provide insight into areas of disparities and progress towards closing the gender gap. The report is a result of legislation sponsored by Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava in 2015, adopting the UN Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women and requiring an annual report measuring gender equity in the county.
