Rahel Weldeyesus - Chief of Community Development
Rahel Weldeyesus returns to south Miami-Dade after managing a violence prevention initiative in New York. She has worked with the formerly incarcerated, as well as runaway and at-risk youth, and has expertise in fund and program development. She also worked with New York Assemblyman Sam Hoyt.
Rahel graduated from University of Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and focus on human rights. She obtained her Masters degree in Public Administration from FIU. Rahel will serve as nonprofit liaison to strengthen the service network and increase resources to meet District 8 needs.
She will also support countywide initiatives that create economic opportunity and enhance the quality of life for all residents. Rahel helped to launch the District 8 small business incubator, Accelerate South Dade, and manages our District 8 Nonprofit and Small Business Academies.
