Shining Scholar Award
Shining Scholar Award

Nominate a high-achieving high school student who deserves credit for doing the right thing in the classroom or the community for one of the Mayor's Shining Scholars Awards. The student can be from a public, private, or charter school. You can nominate him or her each month. Three students will be selected for one of three awards.

There are 3 award categories:

  • The Pursuer of Excellence Award - This award will be given to a well-rounded student who, throughout their academic career, has exhibited an extraordinary eagerness to improve themselves academically, professionally and/or civically in order to achieve them.
  • The Unstoppable Scholar Award - This award will be given to a student who has displayed extraordinary perseverance in moving forward in their academic career.
  • The Emerging Leader Award - This award will be given to a student who has inspired positive change in others and the community.

The selected students will be spotlighted in the Mayor's Shining Scholars' ''Hall of Stars'' and recognized at a Board of County Commissioners meeting, where they will receive their awards.

The deadline for a February nomination is Jan. 5, 2018.
