Zoo Miami has been selected as one of the winners in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice travel award contest.
The zoo was selected by a digital vote that allowed the public to vote online for one nominee per category, per day over a period of 4 weeks.
Zoo Miami is the oldest and largest zoological garden in the state of Florida and the only zoo located in a subtropical climate in the continental U.S. It has approximately 330 developed acres which sit on a 740 acre footprint of land and is home to about 3,000 animals representing over 500 species from around the world.
In addition to its animal collection, Zoo Miami is also classified as a botanical garden and features over 1,000 species of trees, palms and other plants to help provide natural environments.
Zoo Miami is open every day of the year from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. with the last ticket being sold at 4 p.m. Admission is $22.95 plus tax per adult and $18.95 plus tax per child ages 3-12. Children under three are free.
