Kids can stay active at an after-school program

Kids can be active all year long with Miami Dade Parks' Fit2Play program and Fit2Lead Youth Enrichment and Sports Program. The programs run Aug. 19, 2019 - June 3, 2020 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at several park locations. The programs also run through vacation breaks.

Fit2Play program (ages 6-14)

Fit2Play is a nationally-acclaimed program that incorporates exercise, nutrition and health education into fun and engaging group activities like obstacle courses and nutrition relay races.

Each session begins with Sports, Play and Active Recreation for Kids (SPARK) activities and homework help. Some locations provide a program exclusively designed for children and young adults with disabilities ages 6-22.

The price ranges from $25 to $35 per week plus a $15 registration fee. Qualifying families may receive financial aid through a scholarship.

Fit2Lead Youth Enrichment and Sports (YES) Program (ages 12-17)

Fit2Lead is a free after-school program that provides your child with academic tutoring, sports and enrichment sessions. This program includes some Saturday family events.
