The Office of New Americans
The Office of New Americans is a countywide initiative to raise awareness about the importance of citizenship. It's mission is to empower immigrants eligible for naturalization to become more civically an economically in our communities by facilitating access to the resources they need to attain citizenship and to prosper.
The Office of New Americans connects aspiring Americans with:
- Free and low-cost classes to prepare for the test and interview.
- One-on-one assistance with the naturalization application.
- Fee waivers and referrals to financial products to defray the cost of the application.
- Referrals to one-on-one financial coaching and other economic prosperity services.
Founded in 2015, The Office of New Americans (ONA) is a public-private partnership between Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez, the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners, Citi and non-profit legal service providers who have come together to educate aspiring Americans to free and low-cost services as part of a national effort Cities for Citizenship.
The Office of New Americans of Miami-Dade County (ONA) promotes naturalization campaigns and citizenship events. ONA seeks financial and in-kind resources, as well as pro-bono services from the community to implement free or low-cost citizenship Informational Sessions and Workshops while providing enhanced economic and educational opportunities among legal permanent residents in Miami-Dade.
