The Office of New Americans
The Office of New Americans leads, supports, and manages a range of programs that increase access to legal services, integration, and empowerment for Miami-Dade's immigrant communities.
Miami Dade's residents can contact our office to access a wide array of services, knowledge, referrals, and resources that help overcome barriers to immigrants. The Office of New Americans has created partnerships across multiple sectors to provide these services.
About Us
Created by resolution no. r-595-15, The Office of New Americans of Miami-Dade (ONA) is a county-wide initiative to assist our immigrant residents to overcome any barriers on their path to full citizenship. In June of 2015, through the leadership of then Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava, then Mayor Carlos Gimenez, Citi Community Development, the Board of County Commissioners, and the Florida Immigrant Coalition, the county leveraged its resources to educate aspiring Americans and provide free and low-cost services as part of a national effort, Cities for Citizenship. The first county in the nation to join this effort.
Since then, ONA has expanded its mission to support and navigate all immigrant communities and newly-arrived individuals within the County. Its vision is to create a welcoming county and promote the inclusion of immigrant communities by offering information, resources, and guidance.
