Hurricane season runs through Nov. 30. Check out the Hurricane Guide to make sure you're ready for the next storm.

Request an Animal Trap

Once safely trapped, residents should bring dogs and cats to the Pet Adoption and Protection Center in Doral, Miami-Dade County Animal Services' main location. Animals will be scanned for microchips and if found to have one, their owners will be contacted.

If cats are trapped as part of the Trap-Neuter-Return program, you can pick up the cat or choose to have the cat returned to you or to the area where it was picked up. Cats not picked up from the Pet Adoption and Protection Center after several days will be released back to the community from which they came. Injured or diseased cats are not released back into the community.

  • Cat Traps

Through the Trap-Neuter-Return program, residents can borrow a trap from Animal Services Pet Adoption and Protection Center in Doral to capture the cat. The cat traps are provided on a first-come, first-served basis and are available for free but do require a $50 refundable deposit. The traps must be returned within 10 days to receive a refund on your deposit.

Once the cat has been captured, the resident should transport the cat to the Adoption and Protection Center to be sterilized, vaccinated and have it's ear tipped. Animal Services will not come to pick up the cat.

After surgery and required recovery time, the resident can pick up the cat or choose to have the cat returned to them or to the area where it was picked up. Cats not picked up from the Pet Adoption and Protection Center after several days will be released back to the community from which they came. Injured or diseased cats are not released back into the community.

  • Dog Traps

Animal control officers will try to capture stray dogs that have been reported to 311. If the dog is not captured at that time, a trap will be provided by Animal Services at no cost.

When the dog has been trapped, call 311 to arrange for Animal Services to pick up the dog.

Dog traps are not available at the Pet Adoption and Protection Center.
