Fit2Lead Youth Enrichment and Sports Program
FIT2Lead is a supervised and safe alternative for youth ages 12-14 and teens ages 15 – 17 after school. From homework assistance help to critical enrichment sessions, the Fit2Lead program serves as one of the as one of the important ingredients in helping to create a positive foundation. The goal of the program is to provide opportunities for at-risk youth to gain life skills that promote mental, social and physical health that encourages positive behaviors.
Youth Enrichment and Sports (YES) Program (12 – 14 years)
YES provides academic tutoring, sports and enrichment sessions. Special workshops include music, dance, and photography classes.
Park Internship (P.I.P) Program (15 – 17 years)
Teens, ages 15-17, are invited to apply to become a Park Intern – an entry level part-time paid position that will get them started on the road to responsibility! Interns receive on-site practical work experience and enrichment classes that focus on topics such as budgeting, resume writing, communication, stress management, health, goal setting and making positive choices.
The program is held during the school year Monday to Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., and includes some Saturday family events.
The following is the afternoon schedule for each day:
- 4 p.m.: Academic Support (Monday through Friday)
- 5:10 p.m.:
- Sports and Leadership (Monday and Wednesday)
- Enrichment Recreation (Tuesday and Thursday)
- Special Workshops (Friday)
- 6:30 p.m.: Dinner
- 7 p.m.: Dismissal
During the school week staff will transport program participants from their school to the park. Parents are responsible for picking up the child and transporting them home.
For Saturday program activities parents are required to provide transportation for the child to and from the park. Staff will provide transportation to and from the parks involved in the Saturday activity for that day.
