Internship Program

Animal Services

Internships are provided for the following positions or areas of interest:

• Adoptions
• Business Administration
• Criminal Justice
• Event Planning
• Graphic Design
• Human Resources
• Marketing & Media
• Public Administration
• Social Media  
• Veterinary Services

All applicants must be:

• Interested in one of the positions/majors mentioned above
• Highly driven to broaden their understanding of the department
• Able to provide a statement with a minimum of 500 words regarding the area of interest for the internship
• Able to provide an updated and completed resume
• Able to attend a formal interview
• Able to pass a criminal background check

• Must be either a junior or senior
• Must fill out an application through their high school internship coordinator
• The coordinator will assist in completing and submitting the application
• High school internships are afternoon programs
• Interns will work for a maximum of five hours per week
• If applicable, some students are expected to complete an associated project for the school in fulfillment of the course requirement
• A grade is provided by the department to the school for each marking period and at the end of the semester
• High school credit will be received upon completion of the program

• Must complete the internship application
• Must submit three reference letters from professors or instructors
• Must provide a copy of official/unofficial transcripts
• Hours are dependent on desired credits to be earned and will be determined by the school's advisor
• Students who wish not to receive academic credit are still welcome to apply

Enrollment is open throughout the year. Students may inquire at any time, however, if selected, you will be placed on the next possible start date.

As mentioned above, high school students will submit their application with the assistance of their school internship coordinator. Please see your school advisor.
