International Forensic Photography Workshop

This 5-day course, provides 40 hours of training in the use of photography to help solve crimes. Completed registration forms must be received 10 business days prior to the starting date of the workshop.

Students will learn methods of discovery and documentation relating to death investigation. Crime scene and general photography are covered in detail, along with related biomedical and forensic photography techniques.

Basic photographic needs and considerations, methods that reach the cutting edge of investigative procedures are extensively covered. In carefully presented, simplified terms, you will learn the optical principles and properties of light that lead to excellent photographic documentation. You will also learn to use the concise, systematic methods of recording information with the use of studio and laboratory equipment. You will learn about the choice of equipment, lighting and exposure techniques.

Classroom lectures will be supplemented with carefully devised crime scenes to develop your skills in various lighting situations.

Actual postmortem examinations will be documented in close-up detail in the autopsy suites. Sections of the course will also utilize state-of-the-art macroscopic photography.

You will participate in experiments in the high-speed laboratory to record images normally invisible to the human eye, using ultraviolet & infrared techniques.
