11.1: Strengthen partnerships with community groups to deliver critical services

Issue Statement and Context

There are over 10,000 active nonprofits in Miami-Dade, ranging in size and scope, employing more than 8% of the County’s workforce. The County partners with thousands of organizations for serive delivery and outreach. However, smaller organizations experience difficulty participating in the formal grants program.

Recent examples include a variety of collaborations that the County and community groups during the COVID-19 pandemic to distribute food and personal protective equipment (PPE), raise awareness about employment assistance and rent relief, and to deliver testing and vaccination services to communities most impacted by the pandemic. We will strengthen these partnerships by reducing barriers for smaller organizations to collaborate with the County.
