Miami-Dade Police Department Hosts SWAT Training to Mexican Police Officials

Graduation Ceremony for Mexican Police Officials

Please join us for a graduation ceremony to recognize Mexican police officials, Comision Estatal de Seguridad "Security of State Commission" and Grupo de Operaciones Tacticas "Tactical Operation Team", who completed the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Special Response Team’s (SRT) rigorous, two week, tactical training course.

The Miami-Dade Public Safety Training Institute coordinated the course through of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and Miami-Dade County for cooperation related to training, advising, and mentoring international law enforcement personnel and/or to provide assistance for anti-crime efforts.  These Mexican officials are on the front lines in the fight against the transnational criminal organizations that traffic illicit drugs into the United States and wreak relentless violence across Mexico. By using MDPD’s expertise for this assignment, INL is facilitating the transfer of the most contemporary and innovative law enforcement knowledge, skills, and techniques to foreign law enforcement counterparts in countries of critical importance to U.S. national security. The intensive and challenging curriculum, facilitated by the MDPD-SRT, consisted of a wide range of specialized tactics that could be applied in urban areas such as tactical medic, high profile victim rescue, bus assaults, high risks traffic stops, aircraft assaults, barricaded subject, to name a few.  This training is funded by the Merida Initiative which is a bilateral security program that funds all activities of INL Mexico. Thirty members of the Hermosillo Police Department’s Tactical Operational Group and the Chihuahua State Security Commission participated in the training.
