Arson Suspect Identified and Arrested


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

A man wanted for Arson in Miami-Dade County has been located and apprehended in Los Angeles, California.  

On July 4, 2018, a male subject walked into the Dollar Tree, located at 13911 South Dixie Highway, and ignited fireworks.  The subject did not act alone, another male stood by and recorded the incident, later to be posted on social media.  The subject and his accomplice fled in an awaiting black Honda Accord.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and extinguished the fireworks. Through investigative means, detectives were able to identify the subject as Dorian G. Thomas, and obtained a warrant for his arrest.  Thomas was located in Los Angeles, California and is being extradited back to Miami-Dade County.

The incident was captured on video surveillance and is available on the Media Relations Bureau FTP site.
