Arrests made in murder case.


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Homicide Bureau detectives arrested Antonio Lynch for Murder and Armed Robbery of Omar Alvarez.

On May 27, 2019, officers of the Opa-locka Police Department (OLPD) and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) responded to 90 Bahman Avenue, Opa-locka, in reference to a person shot. Officers located Omar Alvarez and discovered he was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  MDFR transported the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma, where he succumbed to his injuries.  The OLPD then contacted the MDPD, Homicide Bureau, whom assumed the lead role in the Murder investigation.

The investigation revealed that Mr. Diaz walked out of his residence towards his vehicle to retrieve belongings when an unknown male approached him and pointed a firearm. The subject then began to open fire at Mr. Diaz, striking him multiple times and proceeded to remove his chain and cellular phone.  The subject subsequently fled in a white Mazda sedan.

As investigators continued to follow all leads, on May 28th, 2019, they arrested Antione Lynch and Jaquavius Matthews and charged both subjects with First Degree Murder and Armed Robbery.

On June 6th, 2019, Homicide investigators arrested Antonio Lynch and charged him with First Degree Murder and Armed Robbery.

The investigation continues.
