(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Detectives from the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Intracoastal District are investigating an incident that resulted in a toddler being shot.
According to investigators, a call was made to police advising that a male was observed entering a vehicle carrying a toddler near the incident location. The caller also advised that the male was yelling that a shooting had occurred. Moments later the City of Aventura Police Department contacted MDPD to advise that a child arrived at Aventura Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso. MDPD units responded to the hospital and determined that the child's father had driven him to the hospital. As the investigation developed, it was learned that the shooting took place inside the home and no drive-by shooting occurred.
