Detectives from the Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau, are investigating a shooting at a local restaurant.
According to investigators, 16 year-old Ana Alvarez-Hernandez was in the restaurant parking lot when a fight broke out between two groups of males. During the fight, at least one of the male subjects pulled a gun from a vehicle and began shooting towards the other group. Ana Hernandez, amongst numerous others, ran to seek cover from the gunfire but was struck once and seriously wounded. She was taken to a nearby hospital by a friend, where she was pronounced deceased by physicians. The investigation is currently ongoing and no other information is available at this time.
Investigators are seeking the assistance of the community to locate and/or identify any of the individuals who were involved in this incident.
Update #1: The Miami-Dade Police Department has provided CrimeStoppers an additional $5,000 to increase the reward for any tips that lead to the arrest in the murder of Ana Alvarez-Hernandez.
