According to investigators, at approximately 2:12 a.m., the officer was stopped, in his personal vehicle, in front of a residence located at 12745 NW 19 Avenue, dropping off a female companion.  As the female approached the front door, she was involved in a verbal dispute with a male that was inside the residence. The male then walked over to the officer's car and an altercation ensued.  The officer discharged his firearm, striking the male. He immediately called 911 and was met by the North Miami Police Department.  Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the wounded male to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center, where he was listed in critical but stable condition. The officer was not injured during the incident.
