The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is investigating a police shooting involving Miami-Dade Police Department officers, which resulted in the death of an armed subject.
According to investigators, Miami-Dade Police, Homicide Street Violence Task Force (HSVTF) detectives, were following investigative leads in Sunday's brutal murder of Roberto Cardenas. While detectives were conducting surveillance in the area, of 20400 block of N.W. 23 Court, they were confronted by an adult male who brandished a rifle and handgun, and shots were fired. The subject was pronounced deceased on the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. No one else was injured during the incident.
Preliminary information received thus far indicates that a rifle and handgun has been recovered from the scene. As with all police involved shootings, FDLE is the lead investigative agency.
