Hit and Run


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a hit and run crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

According to investigators, a 51-year old male was attempting to cross NW 7 Avenue at NW 103 Street, when he was struck by a white Toyota Rav4. The vehicle did not stop, and fled southbound on NW 7 Avenue.  Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by medical staff.

Investigators are seeking the assistance from the community in identifying the hit and run driver and/or vehicle.

The investigation continues.

UPDATE #1:  The subject has been identified, arrested, and booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.  The subject and criminal charge are listed above.  Detectives located the vehicle used in the hit and run crash which is listed above.
