Jorge Martinez-Esteve is chief of the Taxation and Finance section.  He also practices in the Real Estate, and Eminent Domain areas of the County Attorney’s Office, having previously worked in the Tort Liability and Medical Malpractice section of the office.

Jorge has an extensive litigation background, having tried numerous jury trials and hundreds of bench trials since becoming a member of the Florida Bar in 1998.

Since joining the County Attorney’s Office, Jorge has obtained jury verdicts favorable to the County on numerous cases in both state and federal court, including eminent domain cases, 42 U.S.C. §1983 cases, and tort cases that have proceeded to trial.  Jorge also has experience in bid protests and real estate transactional work for the County, including the acquisition of a County domestic violence shelter and a multi-million park-and-ride station for Miami-Dade Transit.

Jorge has lectured in the fields of trial practice, eminent domain, and property taxation, and has also served on the adjunct faculty at both the University of Miami School of Law and Florida International University. Prior to joining the County Attorney’s Office, Jorge litigated commercial matters at Greenberg Traurig, LLP after serving as an Assistant State Attorney in the Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney.
