About Commissioner Roberto J. Gonzalez

Roberto J. Gonzalez was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis as the Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 11 on November 23, 2022. Before joining the Board of County Commissioners, Commissioner Gonzalez - the founding partner of PereGonza The Attorneys PLLC - also served on the Republican Party of Miami-Dade’s Executive Committee as Secretary from 2016 to 2020.

Commissioner Gonzalez was born in Guatemala and legally emigrated with his parents to the United States at the age of two. He grew up in Miami and has been a resident since 1990. On April 30, 2014, he became a citizen of the United States of America.

Commissioner Gonzalez is a product of Miami-Dade County Public Schools having graduated from Miami Coral Park Senior High School in 2005. He then attended Miami Dade College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from Saint Thomas University in 2011. He then went on to earn a Juris Doctor degree from Saint Thomas University School of Law in 2014. In 2015, Commissioner Gonzalez became a member of the State of Florida Bar.

Since taking office, Commissioner Gonzalez has concentrated on improving the quality of life for the West Kendall community, including protecting homeowners living in HOAs and condominium associations, fighting against child sex trafficking, supporting law enforcement, clean streets and better parks. 

As an entrepreneur himself who started his own law firm, Commissioner Gonzalez is an ardent supporter of small businesses and entrepreneurs. He also favors expanding education and economic opportunities for all.  

Most importantly, Commissioner Gonzalez is a dedicated husband and father. He and his wife, Jessyca, have two daughters, Skye and Ava.
