County Owned Mixed Income Properties

The following communities are part of our portfolio and offer affordable housing for which you may be eligible, although some income restrictions may still apply. Please note that all affordable properties accept applications onsite and you should contact the management office directly for information about availability.

  • Leasing of Senator Villas Apartments April 22-May 31, 2019

    Senator Villas Apartments announces the opening of its waiting list for elderly (62+). This affordable rental housing development is located at 8915 SW 40th Street Miami, FL 33165 (District 10). Senator Villas Apartments is a 23-unit, two-story building consisting of 5 studios, 16 one-bedroom units, and 2 two-bedroom units.

    The age eligibility requirement is a minimum of 62 years of age at time of application, for at least one person on the lease. Interested individuals may submit an application online or by mail. Applications are available at https://royalamerican.housingmanager.com. Completed applications will be ranked using a random computerized system. Eligibility for tenancy will be determined during interviews. Interviews will be conducted according to ranking order.

    Applications will be accepted online and by mail from April 22nd thru May 31st, 2019.  Assistance to submit an online application is available. If you need assistance, please call 305-551-4600 to schedule an appointment with a leasing professional. Deadlines: Applications submitted online and by mail must be received and/or post marked by May 31, 2019.

  • Senator Villas Apartments Information

    Senator Villas Apartments is currently under construction at 8915 SW 40 Street, Miami, FL 33165 and expected to be completed by the end of May 2019. This property is funded through Miami-Dade County’s Building Better Communities General Obligation Bond Program (GOB) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The property will be owned by Miami-Dade County and private property management services will be provided under the administration of Public Housing and Community Development (PHCD). Senator Villas is an affordable multifamily rental development and not part of public housing. The following answers are provided to address common questions regarding this property and the application process.

    • Assistance to submit an online application is available. If you need assistance, please call 305-551-4600 to schedule an appointment with a leasing professional. You can also submit an application by mail. The mailing address is: Gran Via Apartments, 12700 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL 33184; Monday-Friday, 9:00am – 2:00 p.m., April 22-May 31, 2019.
    • All pre-applications received by May 31, 2019 will be considered as applying at the same time. It does not matter if an application is received on the first day or the last day. All pre-applications will go through a computerized random selection process and will be assigned a randomly selected ranking number for use in determining the order of the interviews.
    • The head of household must have a Social Security number to register online; however, applicants without a Social Security number will not be prohibited from applying. If you have questions, please contact the leasing office at 305-551-4600.
    • You will be eligible to apply if your 62nd birthday occurs by May 31, 2019 and only one member of the household needs to be 62 years of age by May 31, 2019.
    • One application is permitted per household. Any application that is not fully and accurately completed will be disqualified; therefore, please take your time and read carefully.
    • The building is compliant with the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS), which has accessible features that meet the needs of individuals with disabilities:
      • UFAS Units for Mobility Impaired: 1 unit on the first floor and 1 unit on the second floor.
      • UFAS Units for Vision and Hearing Impaired: 1 unit on the first floor.
    • Features in an UFAS unit include accessible kitchens, accessible bathroom with showers (grab bars included), and the building’s fire alarm system connection (audible/visual)
    • Onsite laundry facilities (all units are equipped with all in one washer/dryer).
    • Section 8 vouchers are accepted.
    • Free parking for residents and visitors, including handicap parking, and 1 assigned parking per unit.
    • Only assistive dogs are permitted.
    • Residents will not have to pay for water, sewer or garbage; however, residents will have to pay electrical.
