Children can enjoy fun, fully-supervised programs with activities focused on fitness, nutrition and wellness, as well as grow their appreciation of nature, science and the cultural arts.
The program runs from Aug. 19, 2019 through June 3, 2020 each weekday from 2 to 6 p.m. throughout the school year and school vacation breaks, at 32 Miami-Dade parks.
Each day's session begins with Sports, Play and Active Recreation for Kids (SPARK) activities and is followed by homework help. SPARK is an evidence-based, outcome-oriented active recreation component dedicated to improving the quantity and quality of physical activity that children engage in.
Fit2Play includes exercise, health and nutritional education into fun group activities, such as obstacle courses and nutrition relay races.
With permission, your child may also participate in the UHealth Study which tracks fitness levels, nutritional needs and progress.
The cost is $25 or 35 per week, depending on the park selected. A discounted fee is available for siblings at the same park.
There is a $15 non-refundable registration fee. A fee reduction is available for eligible applicants. Pick up a fee reduction application from your local park.
