Renew Your Vehicle Registration

Motor vehicle renewal notices are mailed to the registered owner 90 days before the renewal is due. Renewal notices are considered a courtesy service and is not guaranteed.

All motor vehicles, vessels, mobile homes and trailers in Florida must be registered and renewed for either one or two-year periods. When you choose the two-year renewal, you will receive the registration with an additional year added to the expiration date.

You can renew online, by mail or in person at the following locations:

  • Miami-Dade Tax Collector's office
  • Authorized Private Auto Tag Agency
  • Return your renewal notice with proper payment to:

The Miami-Dade Tax Collector's office receives the following methods of payment:

  • Cash
  • Cashier check
  • Money order
  • Personal check
  • Traveler's check

No debit or credit cards accepted.

Any person issued a blue permanent disabled parking permit must provide a certificate of disability completed and signed by a certifying authority within the last 12 months in order to renew the permit. To renew your permanent disabled parking permit, fill out Form HSMV 83039 and submit with your motor vehicle renewal notice.

  • Renew Online

    The option to renew registrations and license plates online is offered by Grant Street Group, a private vendor that provides and supports the tax collector's system of collection.

    RenewExpress only allows credit card payments and will include a non-refundable convenience fee of $3.50 for each registration renewed in a transaction. The Miami-Dade Tax Collector does not receive any portion of the convenience fee.

    GoRenew only allows credit card payments for registration renewals and will include a non-refundable convenience fee of $2 per transaction, with no limit on the number of registrations renewed in a transaction. The Miami-Dade Tax Collector does not receive any portion of the convenience fee.

  • Renewal Registration Status

    Check the status of your renewal.

    If it's been 20 days since you renewed your license plate or decal and you haven't received it in the mail, submit the following:

    If the date of issuance exceeds 180 calendar days, replacement fees are required.

    Submit your replacement request by completing one of the following:

    • Visit the Tax Collector's office or any neighborhood tag agency (additional fees may apply)
    • Email us
    • Mail to:

  • Florida Driver's License

    Driver's licenses are issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, which has nine offices located throughout Miami-Dade County.
