Kayaking

Nestled against the backdrop of big city lights is a remarkable natural playground waiting for you to explore. Admire the beautiful scenery on a sunset or sunrise kayak tour. Learn about sea stars and discover what else is below the surface. Experience a blend of history and wildlife on a leisurely canoeing adventure. Or join an expert guide on a kayak fishing excursion.

Essential equipment to participate is provided for our Water Adventures.

  • Sea Kayak & Snorkel Adventure

    Kayak on the beautiful, shallow waters of Key Biscayne and explore the protected areas of the Bear Cut Preserve in Crandon Park where land meets the sea. Paddle past the sea-grass beds to a fossil reef to snorkel and observe the tropical fish, spotted eagle rays, sea stars and coastal birds that share this fragile and unique environment.

    This program is roughly 2.75 miles long and lasts 3.5 hours. The Sea Kayak & Snorkel Adventure is for ages 9 or older.

    Not available November-March.

  • Key Biscayne Kayak Adventure

    Let our naturalists take you on a journey along the shores of Crandon Park that has witnessed the comings and goings of man for over 2,000 years, from the Tequesta tribes to the pirates that shipwrecked offshore. Paddle over sea-grass beds and sand flats as you make your way past an ancient fossilized reef and into the serene mangrove forests.

    This program is roughly 3 miles long and lasts 2.5 hours. The Key Biscayne Kayak Adventure is for ages 9 or older.

  • Matheson Mangrove Kayak Trek

    Immerse yourself in the remarkable beauty of Biscayne Bay in A.D. Barnes Park as you travel with your naturalist guide through the mangrove forest, the world's only salt-water trees. Discover a world filled with brown pelicans, osprey, great blue herons, nurse sharks, stingrays and more.

    This program is roughly 2.3 miles long and lasts 2 hours. The Matheson Mangrove Kayak Trek is for ages 9 or older.

  • Chapman Field Kayak Trek

    Learn about the history and ecology of this once-airfield turned park in Bill Sadowski Park as you paddle through a variety of South Florida habitats. Fish and birds are plentiful as you journey through a mangrove forest, past an active bird rookery and into the Biscayne Bay.

    This program is roughly 2.3 miles long and lasts 2 hours including transportation time. The Chapman Field Kayak Trek is for ages 9 or older.

  • Sunrise Kayak Adventure

    Experience the sunrise from a kayak and watch the world awaken as you paddle through Crandon Park alongside a naturalist guide. Discover the shorebirds and other ocean life while admiring the tranquil scenery of the early morning amidst the mangroves.

    This program is roughly 3.3 miles long and lasts 2 hours. The Sunrise Kayak Adventure is for ages 9 or older.

  • Kayak Fishing Adventure

    Join an expert guide while fishing from a fishing kayak. You'll learn how to how to paddle your kayak as well as fishing techniques, lure selection and knot tying. A guide will be available before the tour to help select the proper fishing gear. These trips are catch and release.

    This program is for ages 12 or older. Call Main Office for rates.

    Closed-toe shoes are required to participate. Personal kayaks are not allowed.

    Electronic devices may be brought at your own risk, but are not recommended on any aquatic tours. Personal kayaks or canoes are not allowed.
