Active Older Adults Program
Miami-Dade Parks' Active Older Adults programs provide fitness, leisure, and social activities for adults 55 and older. Our goal is to maintain and improve the health and well-being of older adults by engaging the body, mind and spirit.
Program activities vary from park to park and include, but are not limited to:
- Cardio Fitness
- Tai Chi
- Walk 4 Life
- Bingo and Pokeno
- Field Trips
Walk 4 Life
All eight Active Older Adults Recreation Hubs offer Walk 4 Life, an incentive-based walking program with rewards offered for reaching mileage goals. For more information, email Allan Tavss or call 786-372-9701.
Silver Sneakers Flex Classes
SilverSneakers offers classes for a variety of interests and fitness levels. Silver Sneakers FLEX classes are available at six locations. Classes are free for SilverSneakers members and are led by SilverSneakers Certified Instructors. There is a $2 per class fee non SilverSneakers members. Verification of SilverSneakers membership can be made at the selected park.
Classes vary per park and are offered at these park locations:
- Arcola Lakes Senior Center
- Continental Park
- Deerwood Bonita Lakes
- Westwind Lakes
- Country Village

Baptist Health South Florida Classes
Classes by Baptist Health South Florida are offered at Deerwood Bonita Lakes and are open to adults of all ages:
- Tai Chi - Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.
- Trim & Fit - Mondays and Wednesdays 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
- Stretch & Relaxation - Fridays 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
- Zumba Gold - Tuesdays and Thursdays 6 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Zumba - Tuesdays and Thursdays 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Healthy Choices Clinics by Walgreens
Healthy Choices Clinics by Walgreens is a collaboration between Miami-Dade Parks and Walgreens which provides local clinics where Active Older Adults, 55 and over, can receive blood pressure screenings and flu, pneumonia and tetanus shots.
The Healthy Choices Clinics by Walgreens are presented on select days in October at one of the eight Active Older Adults Recreation Hubs. A registered pharmacist is available to answer any questions regarding medications. The Healthy Choices Clinics provide the opportunity for medical observation in a familiar and convenient location.
