Seasonal Employment Opportunities

You can be part of all the fun that’s happening at Miami-Dade Parks next summer! Applications will be accepted beginning Feb. 4 - March 24, for a variety of summer jobs including pool managers, lifeguards, swim instructors, park service aides and recreation leaders. Individuals must be at least 17 years old to apply. All applicants selected for these positions will be required to successfully complete a drug/alcohol screening and criminal background check prior to employment.

Those applying for pool manager, lifeguard or swim instructor position are required to submit proof of current certification in CPR, first aid, lifeguarding and water safety instruction, provided by the Red Cross, YMCA or other nationally recognized aquatic training program. Pool operations experience and pool operator license preferred. Individuals for the pool related positions must be at least 18 years old. Training is available for those who apply early. All positions require the successful completion of appropriate skills exercise, two-part high risk physical exam, including drug/alcohol screen, and criminal background check. Park Service Aide- $11.85 per hour

These positions involve organizing and conducting games, sports, and other recreation activities for summer and day camp programs at parks and recreation facilities. May also require building and grounds and field maintenance. Experience preferred. Age 17 or older


Recreation Leader - $13.34 per hour

Youth Leadership - High school diploma or GED.  One year of experience in planning, organizing, conducting or supervising park and recreation activities is required. Coursework in Recreation, Physical Education, Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Management, Sports Administration, Business/Public Administration, or related field may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis. Must possess a valid Driver's license. HRS Child Care Training Certificate preferred.

Naturalist - High school diploma or GED. One year of experience in developing, directing or conducting interpretive programs as a park naturalist or a related position in organizations such as museums, camps, educational institutions, natural resource management/environmental protection programs, or related experience is required. Completion of related college coursework may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Must possess a Driver license.


Pool/Lake Lifeguard - $12.53/$13.01/$14.49 per hour

Minimum age 18 years. Vision standard 20/40, each eye uncorrected is required. Must possess and maintain current certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Lifeguard Training, provided by the Red Cross, Y.M.C.A. or other nationally recognized aquatic training program. Years of experience and additional certifications determine salary.


Swim Instructor - $13.37 per hour

Minimum age 18 years. Must possess and maintain current certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First aid, and Water Safety Instructor provided by the Red Cross, Y.M.C.A. or other nationally recognized other nationally recognized aquatic training program.


Pool Manager - $18.35 per hour

Minimum age 18 years. One season as Pool/Lake Lifeguard 2 or equivalent is required. Must possess and maintain current certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Lifeguard Training and Water Safety Instructor, provided by the Red Cross, Y.M.C.A. or other nationally recognized aquatic training program. Pool operations experience and pool operator license preferred.
