Commissioner Javier D. Souto

Voters in District 10 first elected Javier D. Souto to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners in April 1993. District 10 includes portions of Kendall, Westchester, and Fontainebleau.

Commissioner Souto hosted preview of Senator Villas affordable housing for seniors

The two-story, 23-unit project, located on County-owned land at 8915 SW 40th St., is expected to open in late May and will include one-bedroom and two-bedroom rental units and studios equipped with LED lights, porcelain tile, patio/balcony and washer/dryer in each unit. The project also will include an elevator and security cameras and will be served by a bus stop in order to provide easy access to public transportation.

District 10 parks getting security cameras

Security cameras are being installed at Tropical Park, Kendall Soccer Park, Kendall Indian Hammocks Park, Ruben Dario Park, Francisco Human Rights Park, Concord Park, and Women’s Park. Funding for the cameras is coming from Commissioner Souto’s district budget. The rest of the parks in Commissioner Souto’s district will be added as more money is available.

Commissioner Souto calls for controls on aggressive tactics at County polls

The Miami-Dade County Commission on Feb. 5 approved a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Javier D. Souto directing the Mayor's administration to recommend policies to control aggressive campaign tacts at voting locations.
