Water Remetering Licenses

Application requirements include:

• Completed Water Remetering Property Owner registration application
  • Spanish application
• Copy of bill format that meets the requirements of Miami-Dade County Code
• Comparison report of owner’s regular service charges from the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department and charges billed to the residents by the owner for the same period of time
• Copy of sample lease or condominium agreement
• Copies of plumbing and electrical permits (if applicable)
• Specifications of submeters and testing equipment
• Schedule of submeter installations (if applicable)

How to apply

• Apply in person, by mail or online
• Instructions for submitting business license applications and supporting documentation

If the application process is not completed within 60 days of its filing, the application will be considered abandoned and closed, and a new application and fee will be required.

Any person(s) or corporation or other business entity that owns a multiple-unit property, purchases water from the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department and provides remetering whose current registration is expiring should renew at least 30 days prior to the expiration of current registration in person or by mail

Renewal requirements include:

• Completed Water Remetering Property Owner renewal application
• Copy of bill format that meets the requirements of Miami-Dade County Code
• Comparison report of owner’s regular service charges from the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department and charges billed to the residents by the owner for the same period of time

How to Apply

Apply online, in person or by mail

• For renewal of an existing license follow these instructions 

Any change in ownership, address, telephone number, contact person or other information recorded on the registration application shall be reported to Miami-Dade County in writing within 10 days of the change.

• Property owner fee: $5.00 per submetered residential or commercial unit

The fee is non-refundable. A late fee will apply to renewal applications submitted after the expiration of the current registration. The late fee is in addition to the renewal fee.

Checks or money orders should be made payable to Miami-Dade County / CP. Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted when applying online and in person.
