Get help in reducing your energy costs at home
Home weatherization is made possible through a partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy and the Florida Department of Community Affairs.
The program is designed to reduce energy consumption in the home. By reducing the energy bills of low-income families as opposed to offering aid, weatherization reduces dependency and liberates these funds for spending on more pressing family issues. On average, weatherization reduces overall energy bills by $358 per year at current prices.
Required measures include the replacement and/or installation of the three major components:
- Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs) - Replaces warm stale air inside the residence with fresh, filtered and pre-cooled air from the outdoors; Assists in maintaining comfortable indoor humidity levels.
- Bathroom Exhaust Fans - Rids air of excess moisture, humidity, odors and other pollutants.
- Kitchen Exhaust Fans - Removes airborne grease, combustion products, fumes, smoke, odors, heat and steam from the air.
Eligibility:
- Total household income must not exceed 200% of the U.S. poverty guidelines.
- Senior citizens and families with children under 12 years of age, will be given priority.
Applications are based on a first-come, first-served basis.
