Juvenile Firesetter Referral

The Juvenile Firesetter Prevention and Intervention Program targets at-risk children and teens with an interest in or a history of starting fires, initiating bomb threats, creating incendiary devices or pulling fire alarms. Through fire safety education, injury, property loss and death can be reduced.

The program serves children and families who reside in Miami-Dade County. A parent or guardian may refer their child ages 5 to 17 by submitting a referral form.

Once a child has been referred to the program, a Firesetter Intervention session will be scheduled with the child, parent or guardian and a Juvenile Firesetter Intervention specialist.

The session will include a discussion of the incident with the child and parent/guardian and fire safety information and video presentations. Sessions are approximately two hours.
