United Way - Education Initiatives

Life begins with a good education. That’s why we’re working toward the shared goal of increasing access and quality of early care and education.
To help children and youth achieve their full potential, we invest in 42 education programs at our Impact Partner agencies, all focused on strategies identified as key to academic success.

We also partner with a broad range of community organizations that share our vision for a stronger community and embody the spirit of collaboration.

  • United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education

The United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education is an innovative educational and professional learning initiative dedicated to elevating the quality of early care and education in Miami-Dade and beyond. With your support, great strides are made preparing young children for success in school and life.
  • Reading Pals

Research shows that children who learn to read well at an early age will not only read more independently, but also achieve more in math, social studies and science, and are more likely to graduate high school and pursue higher education. Early literacy is a key strategy to success.

Become a ReadingPal and join 200 volunteers reading to young children at pre-kindergarten classrooms in neighborhoods across Miami-Dade.

  • Empowering At-Risk Youth

By working together, we can help high-promise youth become successful in their careers and agents for change in their community. Through the United Way Youth Institute, local youth, regardless of social economic status, develop leadership and service learning skills through mentorship, college exploration, learning about our three impact areas, and by implementing a local service learning project.

  • Family Resource Center

United Way EDEN Place is a family resource center created to empower parents by providing motivational support, information and training so that they may successfully navigate the systems that impact their lives and the lives of their children.
